BPCC Launches CDL Program to Meet Growing Demand for Skilled Commercial Drivers

NATCHITOCHES – Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) is proud to announce the launch of its new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program, now available at the Natchitoches campus. This program provides students with the hands-on training and skills necessary for a successful career in commercial driving, combining classroom instruction with practical experience in a fully equipped tractor-trailer.

The CDL program at BPCC is designed to meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training requirements. Students will gain essential knowledge and skills, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maneuvering, trip planning, and defensive driving. Graduates will be prepared to test for a CDL Class A (tractor-trailer) or CDL Class B (straight truck) license, opening doors to high-demand opportunities in the transportation and logistics industries.

Joseph Brownlee, Dean of the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at BPCC, expressed his excitement for the program’s launch.

“The launch of BPCC’s new CDL training program at our Natchitoches campus represents a significant step in expanding workforce training opportunities in the region,” said Brownlee. “With the growing demand for skilled commercial drivers, this program will provide students with the training and certifications needed to secure high-paying, in-demand jobs while supporting transportation and logistics industries that are vital to our local and state economy.”

Enrollment for the CDL program is now open, with the first cohort set to start April 14th. For more information, visit bpcc.edu/cdl or contact Sherie Moore, CDL Program Coordinator, at smoore@bpcc.edu.
