1. Welding Fundamentals - Plate and Light Structural for the Beginners (YMAU152)
Overview/Description: This course is intended to be training for those who have never done any type of Welding or who consider themselves beginners looking to enhance their basic skills. The anticipated outcome will be fundamental proficiency for Basic Welding for plate and simple structural.
Prerequisites: Computer proficiency, Basic Shop Safety Awareness, ability to handle shop tools and general awareness of welding.
Topics Covered: General Safety, Welding Safety, equipment and materials, how to weld with hands-on practice, how to critique your own weld and joining metal weld beads. With successful completion of coursework, the student will receive a certificate for Welding Safety and Principles of welding from NC3.

2. Welding Skill Enhancement (YMAU153)
Overview/Description: This is intended to be training for those who have basic Arc Welding skills and have completed the Plate and Light Structural course or equivalent experience. The anticipated outcome will be fundamental proficiency or skill enhancement for various welding methodologies. Individuals can take this class multiple times to continue to build their skills, achieve proficiency in additional methods and expand their capabilities.
Prerequisites: Computer proficiency, Welding Fundamentals Plate and Light Structural or ability to demonstrate equivalent skills, Basic Shop Safety Awareness, ability to handle shop tools.
Topics Covered: Preparation and completion of various configurations, using all methods with Hands-on practice and how to critique your own weld. Identifying weld joint deficiencies and recommended actions to correct and improve weld quality. Choice of topics/methods including: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Oxy-Acetylene Cutting and Plasma Cutting.

3. Mechanical Power Transmission and Maintenance – (YMAU144)
Overview/Description: This is intended to be training for those already skilled tradesmen and are working with complex machinery involving power transmission from a motor to a machine that involves shafts, pulleys, gears, belts and chains. This class will address proper set-up, alignment and maintenance of power transmission systems. This will include hands-on assembly and troubleshooting of mechanical power transmission systems.
Prerequisites: Currently a Journeyman or Apprentice for Mechanical Maintenance.
Topics Covered: General Safety Process for Maintenance, Troubleshooting Methodologies, Typical problems encountered couplings, belts, chain and gearbox Drive Systems. Proper installation and Maintenance of Drive System Components.

4. Fundamentals of Non-Destructive Testing Methods (YMAU116) – In development
Overview/Description: This course in Non-destructive Testing (NDT) is intended for those with a background in welding, fabricating or manufacturing of metal products and maintenance of mechanical systems, wanting to ensure quality and safety of ferrous metal products. The scope for this fundamentals training will cover Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Testing (MT) of ferrous metals and welded components. This training will cover both theory and practical applications as well as hands-on exercises.
Prerequisites: Currently a Journeyman or Apprentice for Mechanical Maintenance or welding as well as a basic understanding of fabricating and working with ferrous metals.

5. Electrical Fundamentals – Field Devices and Basic Motor Controls (YMAU114)
Overview/Description: This is intended for those who are already skilled tradesmen (mechanical or Electrical) and are working with mechanical systems and basic electrical controls. The focus will be on various field devices (push button, sensors, switches and circuit breakers) as well as simple processes and basic motor controls. Various control circuits will be considered along with developing an approach to troubleshooting and addressing “live” problems.

In conjunction with the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, this class is in preparation for an Industry Based Credential that demonstrates a mastery of foundational core competencies of advanced manufacturing production at the entry-level to front-line supervisor. The goal of this program is to raise the level of performance of production technicians. This training is ideal for individuals with no prior knowledge of manufacturing to begin a career pathway in the high skill, high wage, in-demand manufacturing industry.

Overview/Description: This is intended to be an extension of Industrial Readiness Training. In conjunction with the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, this class is in preparation for an Industry Based Credential that demonstrates a mastery of foundational core competencies of material handling at the front-line for anyone in the entry-level to the supervisor. The goal of this program is to raise the level of performance of logistics technicians both to assist the individuals in finding higher-wage jobs and to help employers ensure their workforce increases the company’s productivity and competitiveness. Topics Covered: Various roles in global supply chain logistics life cycle, operate and use equipment, safety principles, Quality Control Principles, Work Communication Practices, Teamwork and good Workplace Behavior, Relevant Computer Systems and Applications that increase productivity, Receiving and stocking of products, processing product orders, Prepare shipment of products, Dispatch and tracking operations, Evaluating of Transportation modes, Handling of Hazardous Materials Safely, Maintaining Control of inventory, US and Metric conversions

1. Complete the BPCC Non-credit Application for the semester in which the class will occur.
** Be sure to complete the section regarding immunization and if applicable, Selective Service
2. Check email for acceptance notification with LOLA credentials (could take up to 24 hours)
3. Setup Student Account in LOLA, click here and follow directions below
- Input your User Name provided in acceptance email
- Under Help Section, click on I don’t know my password
- Select Verify Personal Information, enter information and select Next
- Follow instructions to create a new password and select Next
- Once password is successfully created, you can log in to LoLA
4. Register for Class in LOLA by following the directions below:
- Log into LoLA
- Click on Student in the Self Service Banner section
- Click on Registration in the Academic Links section
- Click on Register for Classes in the Registration section
- Select Terms Open for Registration drop down menu, Fall 2021, then click on Continue
- Under Register for Classes, Select Tab Enter CRN, Enter CRN #xxxx, select Add to Summary
- Bottom Right Corner, Select Submit
- Status will change to Registered
5. Pay for Class, select Home from top left corner and follow instructions below:
Credit Card (2.75% convenience charge applies)
- Go to Self Service
- Select Student
- Under to My Account
- Select Payment/Payment Plan Processing, look for the piggy bank
- At the bottom right of the page, select Make a Payment
- Verify amount is $400, then select Continue
- Enter credit card information and select Continue
Cash, Check or Money Order
- Must be paid in person on campus at Business Office located in Building F (campus map)
- Check must include student name and name of class
- Service charge of $25 on all returned checks
Refund policy: Ninety percent (90%) refunds are granted if you notify our office at least three business days prior to the beginning of class. Refunds are not granted after a class begins. A full refund will automatically be processed if the class is cancelled by our office.
