MANY, LA – Bossier Parish Community College and the BPCC Foundation are proud to announce Huey-Andrew Sepulvado as the first recipient of the Robert Byles Endowed Scholarship in Electrician Technology at BPCC Sabine Valley.
The scholarship honors the life of Mr. Byles, who passed away in February 2017, and is awarded to students who are enrolled in the Electrician Technology program at BPCC’s Sabine Valley campus. Campus administrators say Sepulvado embodies the spirit and legacy that the scholarship aims to honor.
Sharon Blake, a representative for the Robert Byles Scholarship, expressed her excitement and pride during the presentation. "Robert was very instrumental in starting the Electrical program when it was Central Louisiana Technical and Community College, and we are so proud that BPCC is carrying on the tradition. It’s a way for us to honor him," said Blake.
Jennifer Byles, echoed her sentiment of support for the program. "Robert was an advocate of helping others, and I think this is a great career path for the students of Sabine Parish. It is in high demand and high paying as well, making it a very attractive opportunity to students. I am honored to be a part of this."
Dennie McNight, Electrician Technology Instructor at BPCC Sabine Valley, expressed gratitude for the Byles family's contribution. "We are thankful to the Byles family for their investment in our students' future, and this is further testament that the community supports our program."
