Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) Division of Business and Technology proudly announces the launch of its Fiber Optics Technician Training Initiative. This innovative program provides 15 participants enrolled in BPCC’s College Transition Program with three free courses, a free certification exam, and a $200 monthly stipend. The program prepares students for promising careers with leading companies such as AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon.
Program Details:
- Certificates: Equips students with a Certificate and Technical Certification in Fiber Optics Technology (CTC).
- Industry Certifications: Includes six certifications from the Fiber Optic Association: CFOT, CFOS/S (Splicing), CFOS/T (Testing), CFOS/O (Outside Plant Installation), and CFOS/H (Fiber to the Home/Premises/Curb/Node).
- Career Preparation: Participants receive thorough training and support to ensure they are well-prepared for roles in the rapidly growing fiber optics industry.
Quentin Calhoun, Dean of Business and Information Technology, highlighted the crucial role of Justin Tison, Director of College Transition Programs, in bringing this collaboration to fruition.
“The Fiber Optics Technician Training Initiative is a testament to our commitment to providing accessible and impactful educational opportunities,” said Calhoun. “We are dedicated to supporting students transitioning from Adult Education to BPCC's credit-bearing courses, ensuring they have the skills needed to succeed in the global job market.”
Participants in the program will benefit from:
- Tuition Coverage: Three courses covered by the program.
- Certification Exams: Included as part of the training.
- Monthly Stipend: $200 provided to each student.
