Bossier Parish Community College and the Office of Admissions are proud to announce the graduation of 28 high school students earning a total of six associate’s degrees and 26 certificates, and two career and technical certificates, at the spring 2021 commencement ceremonies.
The hard work, determination, and perseverance of these students paired with the unfailing support of their high schools and families has enabled them to achieve the remarkable accomplishment of earning a postsecondary credential while simultaneously earning their high school diploma. Despite complications created by the COVID-19 pandemic, these students persevered and have accomplished a truly extraordinary feat.
The students who will be graduating with a postsecondary credential include Cailin Bateman, Sarah Gatti, and Nia Perry from Airline High School; Bobby Crawford III and Sydney Rogers from Arcadia High School; Molly McNulty from C.E. Byrd High School; Kenzie Crawford, Kelsi Friday, Zakiya Johnson, Avery Myers from Castor High School; George Allen and Camry Belcher from Haughton High School; Trinity Samuel and Jayden Williams from Northwood High School; Lyanla Adams, Trevor Farley, Morgan McCarty, Nicole Parker, Andrea Smith, and Sidney Smith from Ringgold High School; Kylie Bates, Ryder Blanchard, Makayla Dunnam, and Macie Warren from Saline High School; and home educated students Avereigh Dill, Connor Johnson, Joseph Murphy and Amira X.
Cailin Bateman, a senior at Airline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment at BPCC in the spring of 2019. Cailin earned 20 credit hours through AP and CLEP scores, and transferred credits from another university. She earned a total of 41 credit hours. Cailin has been awarded the LSU Merit-based Scholarship. She plans to attend LSU in the fall and major in marketing.
Sarah Gatti, a senior at Airline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment through the Talented Arts Program in the spring of 2018. Sarah earned 39 credit hours, of which 18 credit hours were earned from ACT and AP scores. She has been awarded the Tiffany Strong Scholarship, and the Republican Women’s Scholarship. Sarah plans to attend Vanderbilt University where she will major in Biomedical Engineering.
Nia Perry, a senior at Airline High School, will graduate with a Certificate of General Studies. She began classes in the dual enrollment program at BPCC in the fall of 2019. Nia earned 36 credit hours, 6 of which were earned from ACT scores. Nia will be attending Cornell University in the fall to study Pre-Law and American Studies.
Bobby Crawford III, a senior at Arcadia High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. He entered the dual enrollment program in the spring of 2019 and has earned 36 credit hours. Bobby has been awarded scholarships from the University of Louisiana –Monroe, and Northwestern State University. He plans to attend ULM to major in medicine.
Sydney Rogers, a senior at Arcadia High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She started dual enrollment at BPCC in the fall 2018. Sydney has earned 45 credit hours while in high school. She plans to attend ULL and major in nursing.
Molly NcNulty, a senior from C.E. Byrd High School, will be graduating with an Associate of General Studies and a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment at BPCC in the summer of 2020. In addition to the 36 credit hours earned at BPCC, Molly earned 24 credit hours through ACT, AP, and CLEP scores. She has been awarded the Elks Lodge #122 Student of the Month Scholarship, Willis Knighton Radiance Technology Independence Bowl Scholarship, Women’s Republican Club of Shreveport Scholarship, and the Coca-Cola Scholarship. Molly will be attending Baylor University in the fall where she will be studying neuroscience and nuclear engineering.
Kenzie Crawford, a senior at Castor High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment in the fall of 2019. Kenzie has been awarded TOPS Honors, LA Tech Outstanding Student Scholarship, and NSU Presidential Honors Scholarship. Kenzie plans to attend LA Tech majoring in Graphic Design.
Kelsi Friday, a senior at Castor High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began BPCC’s program in the spring of 2019. She has earned 36 credit hours as a dual enrollment student. Kelsi plans to attend LSUS in the fall and major in psychology.
Zakiya Johnson, a senior at Castor High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment at BPCC in the spring of 2019 and has earned a total of 42 credit hours. Zakiya has been awarded the LHSAA Powerlifting Scholarship, $12,000 Trustee’s Academic Scholarship, $7,800 Bison Grant, $1,000 Church scholarship, $1,000 Church Partnership (OBU Match), $3,772 TEACH Undergraduate Grant, $2,000 ULL Cypress Scholarship, TOPS, and $4,500 LA Tech Outstanding Student Scholarship. Zakiya plans to attend Oklahoma Baptist University in the fall and major in Secondary Education.
Avery Myers, a senior and Valedictorian at Castor High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment at BPCC in the spring of 2019. Avery has earned 33 credit hours as a dual enrollment student. She has been awarded $2,200 annually from NSU and TOPS Opportunity. Avery will attend NSU in the fall where she plans to major in Early Childhood Education.
George Allen, a senior from Haughton High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. George has participated in dual enrollment since spring 2018 through the Talented Arts Program. He has completed 24 credit hours along with 6 credits earned from ACT scores. He has been awarded the National Merit Scholarship, and the National Merit Finalist Scholarship from Texas Tech where he plans to attend this fall and study personal financial planning.
Camry Belcher, a senior from Haughton High School, will be graduating with an Associate of General Studies and a Certificate of General Studies. Camry has participated in the Talented Arts Program in Bossier Schools where she got her start in dual enrollment. She has completed 54 credits hours at BPCC, along with 17 credit hours earned through transfer, AP scores and CLEP. She was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in the spring 2021. In the fall, Camry plans to attend LA Tech and study business.
Trinity Samuel, a senior at Northwood High School, is graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began her educational journey in dual enrollment in the summer of 2019. She has earned 39 credit hours. Trinity was awarded a $20,000 academic scholarship at ULM where she plans to study kinesiology this fall.
Jayden Williams, a senior at Northwood High School, will be graduating with both an Associate of General Science and a Certificate of General Studies. Jayden began taking dual enrollment courses in the summer of 2019. He will have earned his degree and certificate by completing courses through LSUS and earning credit based on ACT and AP scores along with completing 52 credit hours at BPCC. Jayden was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in the spring 2021. After graduation he plans to attend LSUS and major in Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Lyanla Adams, a senior at Ringgold High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment at BPCC with 15 transfer credits in the fall of 2019 and continued earning 47 credit hours. Lyanla plans to attend Louisiana State University to study Animal Science on the pre-vet track.
Trevor Farley, a senior at Ringgold High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. He began dual enrollment in the spring of 2020. He was inducted in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in the fall of 2020. Trevor earned 30 credit hours and plans to continue his studies at BPCC this fall majoring in Culinary Arts.
Morgan McCarty, a senior at Ringgold High School, will be graduating with an Associate of General Studies and Certificate of General Studies. Morgan transferred 9 credit hours to BPCC when she began the dual enrollment program in the fall of 2019. She earned 54 credits at BPCC while in the DE program. Morgan plans to attend ULM to major in biology to pursue a career as a Radiologist.
Nicole Parker, a senior at Ringgold High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began participating in BPCC’s dual enrollment program in the spring of 2020, earning 44 credit hours. Nicole plans to transfer to LSUS and begin working on her Associates degree in Biology.
Andrea Smith, a senior at Ringgold High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began attending dual enrollment at BPCC in the fall of 2019. Andrea has earned 54 credit hours at BPCC. She was awarded $14,000 in scholarships from ULM, and a $1,600 academic scholarship from NSU. Andrea plans to attend ULM in the fall to study nursing.
Sidney Smith, a senior at Ringgold High School, will be graduating with an Associate of General Studies and a Certificate of General Studies. She began the dual enrollment program at BPCC in the spring of 2019 and has earned 60 credit hours. She plans to attend LSUS and major in business.
Kylie Bates, a senior at Saline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began earning college credit at BPCC through dual enrollment in the fall of 2019. She earned 36 credit hours. Kylie will be attending Centenary College of Louisiana in the fall and will major in biology.
Ryder Blanchard, a senior at Saline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. He began attending classes through BPCC’s dual enrollment program in the spring of 2019 and has earned 30 credit hours. He would like to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering but is undecided where he would like obtain his undergraduate degree.
Makayla Dunnam, a senior at Saline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began participating in BPCC’s dual enrollment program in the spring of 2020 and has earned 33 credit hours. Makayla plans to attend NSU in the fall and major in nursing.
Macie Warren, a senior at Saline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began earning college credit through the dual enrollment program in the spring of 2019. She has earned 39 credit hours. Macie has been awarded TOPS opportunity, and ULM Academic Scholarship. She plans to attend ULM in the fall and major in Elementary Education.
Avereigh Dill, a home educated senior, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began dual enrollment at BPCC in the spring of 2020 and has earned 35 credit hours. Avereigh will attend Penn Foster College in the fall to study veterinary technology.
Connor Johnson, a home educated senior, will be graduating with a CTC in Computer Repair. He began attending BPCC as a dual enrollment student in the fall of 2018 and has earned 42 credit hour through the program. Connor plans to continue his education pursue an Associate’s degree at BPCC.
Joseph Murphy, home educated senior, will be graduating with an Associate of General Studies, a Certificate of General Studies, and a CTC in Web Design. He began dual enrollment in the fall of 2019. He earned 6 credit hours through ACT scores and CLEP. In the spring of 2021, Joseph was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He hopes to earn his Bachelors of Science degree but is undecided on where to attend college in the fall.
Amira X, a home educated senior, will be graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. She began attending BPCC as a dual enrollment student in the fall of 2019. She earned 36 credit hours at BPCC in addition to 13 transfer credit hours from another university. She was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in the spring of 2021. Amira was awarded TOPS Opportunity, NSU Opportunity, and NSU Award. She plans to attend NSU in Shreveport to earn a degree in nursing.
