The Music Program at Bossier Parish Community College will present a Guest Artist Recital featuring pianist Cathy DeRousse at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, September 10 in the Stephen W. Slaughter Performing Arts Theatre (Building C) on the BPCC campus, 6220 E. Texas St., Bossier City, LA. This recital is free and open to the public.
The recital, loosely titled “A French Connection,” will feature selections by Claude Debussy, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, as well as Frederic Chopin and Johann Sebastian Bach.
DeRousse is collaborative artist, college organist, and director of the Bennett Technology Lab at East Texas Baptist University, where she also has taught piano, class piano, songwriting, and scoring and arranging. Prior to ETBU, she taught piano, collaborative piano, and music theory at Centenary College of Louisiana, and class piano and applied piano at BPCC. She also served as a staff accompanist at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX. DeRousse earned a bachelor of music degree and master of music degree in piano from Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, respectively. She is a member of Baroque Artists of Shreveport and an adjudicator for piano festivals and competitions. Her published compositions include works for piano, organ, handbells, violin, and choir.
