Certifications
Certifications will help you verify and learn the skills needed to find a job in IT. Basic certifications can give you a foundation to build upon as well as a pay increase. The Global Knowledge 2023 IT Skills and Salary Report states the average difference between salaries of certified and noncertified IT staff is nearly $14,000 and that certified staff add value to an organization, many employers reported that they see a boost in productivity, troubleshooting takes less time, and certifications close skills gaps. Certifications also increase your potential for career advancement. Overall, certifications show employers that you are serious and dedicated to your career. The Testing Center is located on BPCC's Bossier campus in Building D. The center offers CISCO, CompTIA, and Microsoft exams. Students can register to take the certification exams right here on the BPCC campus.
Many of our Computer Technology (CTEC) courses will help prepare you for national certifications. Some certifications count for course credit. Please see the Prior Learning Assessment Matrix for further information. The Registrar will allow up to twenty-one (21) hours that may be awarded to students for prior learning, which includes credits through challenge exams, certifications, CLEP, and DSST. Listed below are the certification exams offered and an estimated cost for each exam. Students who meet course requirements may be eligible to have exam costs covered through the LED/GDIT program.
