The Paramedic Program at Bossier Parish Community College will begin in mid-August 2013 and end in mid-May 2014. Class will meet 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Clinical and field rotations will occur during the week and on weekends. They will last from 8 to 16 hours depending upon the rotation.

Application

In order to be accepted into the program, you must completely fill out the application,PDF File perform the required tasks, and provide ALL of the requested documentation. If you have completed an EMT course but have not tested or you are taking A and P this summer, explain this in the appropriate section of the application. You will still be considered for the program as long as the prerequisites are complete before the first day of class. The application packet is due by 4:30 p.m. on April 12, 2013.

Program Prerequisites

  1. NREMT and State of Louisiana certified EMT or EMT-Intermediate (must maintain throughout the program). You may apply if you have finished your EMT program but have not tested. You must successfully complete the testing process the beginning of the program.
  2. Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
  3. Place out of READ 099 by ACT or COMPASS or complete the course with at least a C.
  4. Place out of MATH 098 by ACT or COMPASS or complete the course with at least a C.
  5. Complete BLGY 230 and 23 (or equivalent from another institution) with at least a “C” in each course.
  6. Submit a complete application by the deadline.

Application Checklist

  • If you are not currently a BPCC student, apply for admission in Building F or go to the Admissions webpage.
  • Obtain a student ID and number in the Student Life office in Building F Room 220.
  • Have transcripts from any college or university that you have previously attended sent to BPCC.
  • Take the Reading and Math placement tests.
  • Fill out the application completely
  • Attach copies of your NREMT, State and BLS cards to the application
  • Turn in application before 4:30 p.m. on April 12, 2013
    • Turn in paper copies to Wanda Buckley-Coody or Tonia Sharp (Building B, Room 148)
