Summer Bridge Program

Overview:

The Summer Bridge program assists entering BPCC students’ transition into the nursing and allied health programs at Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC). Summer Bridge gives students an opportunity to get a head-start on their studies and receive individual support before the fall 2014 semester. Overall, Summer Bridge students receive the following support:

  • One-on-one assistance with their academic and career planning
  • Small group instruction in English, math, and science
  • Discussions and visits to the financial aid office, tutoring center, and other student services

Summer Bridge will take place at BPCC from June 9, 2014 to July 3, 2014. Summer Bridge will meet Monday to Thursday. The Program will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Unfortunately, BPCC is not able to provide transportation to and from the campus.

Program Benefits:

Participating students receive the following benefits:

  • Pathway to Graduation: Earn three (3) college credits at no cost to students!
  • Step Ahead of Class: Get a head-start to college by preparing for English, math and sciences courses during the summer.
  • Support System: Receive support within a small, supportive group of new students, college instructors and advisors.

Application Eligibility:

Applicants for Summer Bridge have five characteristics:

  1. Plan to enroll in a nursing or allied health program at Bossier Parish Community College by fall 2014.
  2. Complete a Bossier Parish Community College Admissions Application and necessary admission requirements by May 9, 2014.
  3. Have an ACT Reading score of 16 or higher.
  4. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)Will open new browser window or tab by May 30, 2014.
  5. Have a high school diploma by May 30, 2014.

To be considered for Summer Bridge, submit the following:

  4. Copy of High School Transcript
  5. One Recommendation Letter

The application deadline has been extended to Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
