The Music Program offers an Associate of Arts in Performing Arts degree with a concentration in Music and a Certificate of Technical Studies in Music; Bossier Parish Community College is the only public college in the Shreveport/Bossier City metropolitan area to offer a music major degree. The Associate of Arts in Performing Arts (Music concentration)is one of the most rigorous degrees offered at Bossier Parish Community College. The primary objective of this program is to provide students with formal music training and enhance their music performance skills through solo and ensemble performance in band, choir, and recitals.

The Associate of Arts in Performing Arts with a concentration in Music is designed to attract students who

  • Desire formal music training - either as a two-year degree or as the first two years of serious music study toward a four-year university Bachelor of Music degree.
  • Seek potential careers in music to include performing, composition, and teaching.
  • Desire courses that can be applied toward a variety of four-year degrees.
  • Wish to enhance their music performance skills through ensemble performance in band and choir.

Music Scholarships:

Full-tuition music scholarships are available to all students who participate in the Concert Band, Concert Choir, and Jazz Ensemble. Students do not need to be music majors to be eligible for a music scholarship. Contact the Music Program Director for more information on obtaining a music scholarship.
