Mission and Objectives
Mission
The mission of the Division of Liberal Arts is to maintain and develop the highest standards of academic and curricular excellence in order to promote student success. The Division of Liberal Arts, which oversees the Associate of General Studies, the Associate of Arts in Theatre, and the Associate of Arts in Music encompasses the following disciplines: art, English, foreign language, humanities, interpretation, journalism, music, reading, religion, speech, and theatre. The primary emphasis of this division is placed on students and excellent classroom instruction.
Objectives
- To maintain and develop the highest standards of academic and curricular excellence in order to promote student success
- To broaden the level of aesthetic understanding for faculty and students
- To emphasize writing, reading, speaking, listening, and critical-thinking skills in all division curricula
- To expose general studies and theatre degree-seeking students to a common body of skills, knowledge, and values
