Criteria

Award amounts: $500 and $1,000 ($1,500 maximum allowed per student, per semester upon committee recommendation).

To be considered for this award, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Student must be entering into or enrolled in the clinical portion of program at BPCC.
  • Student must be nominated by their program director.
  • Student must possess a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Student must submit a scholarship application.
  • Student must submit a recent transcript.
  • Student must submit an essay (two paragraphs maximum) that would be reviewed by the selection committee for final selection.
  • Student must participate in an onsite essay process as final phase of application process.
  • Student must display a level of professionalism and demonstrate leadership qualities and/or display characteristics that project a positive public image on the program and BPCC.
  • Students from each BPCC program (with a clinical component) will be considered for an award. The programs that are eligible for consideration are as follows:
    • Paramedic
    • Nursing
    • Medical Assistant
    • Medical Office Specialist
    • Occupational Therapy Assistant
    • Physical Therapist Assistant
    • Surgical Technology
    • Pharmacy Technician
    • Phlebotomy
    • Respiratory Therapy
    • Other programs with clinical components
  • Student must remain in good standing with the school (no academic restrictions, probations, or violations of school policies) to continue receiving award.
  • Students may apply each semester for this award.
  • Priority consideration will be given to applicants who currently reside in northwest Louisiana and to those who plan to live and work in the area after graduation.

Submission and Award Notification Process

  1. Application must be typed or neatly printed.
  2. Submit completed application to Program Coordinator (below) in person, via fax or email.
  3. Applications are reviewed by the Healthcare Scholarship Committee within two weeks following the deadline.
  4. Healthcare Scholarship Committee submits recommendations for awards to BPCC Foundation for final approval.
  5. BPCC Foundation notifies BPCC Office of Financial Aid of award to post to student account.
  6. BPCC Foundation notifies recipient via email or phone within one week following recommendation.

Application Deadlines: All required documents must be received by the deadlines below. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Summer applications due by: April 15
  • Fall applications due by: July 15
  • Spring applications due by: December 15
