Technical Competency Area in Construction Readiness
The Technical Competency Area in the Construction Readiness will produce skilled employees for the construction industries. Skills taught are derived from typical requirements for existing construction employees and those entering the workforce. The Construction Readiness program is based on participative learning, which also provides progress checks, unit assessments and skill practice throughout various units. The program is designed to enable participants to:
- Develop an understanding of construction principles
- Increase interpersonal and team effectiveness skills
- Expand quality control and problem solving skills
- Build the construction skills necessary to interpret instructions, graphics and specifications required
- Build the construction skills necessary to produce the work outlined in the instructions, graphics and specifications in a workmanlike manner
- Build an educational foundation for continued on-the-job training as a commercial or residential construction employee
