Construction Technology Certificate of Technical Studies

Learning outcomes:

Recipients of Associate of Certificate of Technical Studies in Construction Technology will have demonstrated

  1. basic knowledge of construction methods and materials commonly used in residential and commercial construction;
  2. basic knowledge and skills in the use of carpentry;
  3. understanding of the major components of the construction contract and bid process;
  4. ability to interpret plans, drawings, specifications and other documents used for the construction, modification, and repair of buildings;
  5. ability to estimate all materials needed for a residential and commercial building;
  6. coordination of the diverse activities found in a construction project with planning, scheduling, and control;
  7. ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and employers; and work efficiently and effectively with supervisors, subcontractors or other construction personnel;
  8. basic knowledge of fundamental skills of plan surveying.

Specific Program Information:

The Certificate of Technical Studies in Construction Technology is a 33-semester hour curriculum emphasizing skills and knowledge essential for employment in the area of construction. The program includes training in the areas of carpentry, reinforced concrete design, blueprint reading, surveying, estimating, contracting and laws, safety and health, and management.
