Associate of Arts in Theatre

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of the Associate of Arts in Theatre will have demonstrated:

  1. comprehension of basic theories, practices, and techniques used in theatre;
  2. proficiency in performance abilities or technical skills, and management situations;
  3. comprehension of audition and job interview skills;
  4. competency in analysis and research skills; and
  5. successful communication within the theatre environment using verbal, written, and basic computer literacy skills.

*The student must take a minimum of 21 hours from the following approved electives within theatre: THTR 112, THTR 113, THTR 114, THTR 116, THTR 120, THTR 153, THTR 154, THTR 156, THTR 157, THTR 212, THTR 213, THTR 214, THTR 215, THTR 216, THTR 220, THTR 221, THTR 232, THTR 255, THTR 256, THTR 257, THTR 260, THTR 261, THTR 262, or THTR 263.

Degree Completion Requirements:

  • 33 hours of general education courses (English, math, speech, computer literary, natural sciences, fine arts, humanities, and behavioral/social sciences)
  • 7 hours of basic theatre arts courses
  • 21 hours of approved theatre electives
  • Summer internship: BPCC will assist students in securing summer work in a professional or educational theatre or theatre-related position.
