Students must meet prerequisites before taking any given course.
Students must establish computer competency to complete degree requirements either by passing a computer competency examination or taking CIS 105.
Students must establish oral communication competency to complete degree requirements either by passing a SPCH 110 competency examination or taking SPCH 110.

**To be selected from Applied Lessons and Primary Performance Ensembles of Concert Band or Concert Choir.
It is strongly suggested that students also enroll in Basic Conducting.
Music majors will perform a freshman (second semester) and sophomore (fourth semester) solo recital.
Music majors are expected to pass the Piano Proficiency at the end of their fourth semester of piano study (Class Piano I & II and two semesters of applied piano). Successful or unsuccessful completion of this barrier exam will be noted in the student's file.
Music majors are required to perform on student recitals each semester. This also includes the applied instruments for which they are enrolled other than their primary instrument.
Music majors are required to take a music theory placement exam prior to enrolling in MUSC 122 - Music Theory I for proper advising in the music theory sequence.
