Survey of microorganisms that highlight the impact of microbes on human life and the world. This course is designed for allied health and associate nursing majors and covers topics including history, classification, growth and control, ecology, and immunology. Laboratory activities reinforce lecture concepts.

206/206L:

Principles of Microbiology. (4-3-3)
Prerequisite: CHEM 107 or CHEM 101 and one life science course (BLGY, ZLGY, MICR).
Medically important microbes, techniques used in their handling and control, infection control practices, and immunology are emphasized. This course is designed for baccalaureate students, morphology, physiology, genetics, and identification.
