Learning Outcomes:
Recipients of the Associate of General Studies will have demonstrated
- comprehension of information by reading college-level material across the curriculum;
- ability to communicate effectively in written English across the curriculum;
- proficiency in oral communication skills across the curriculum;
- ability to comprehend and perform course-specific mathematical problems;
- development of critical thinking skills across the curriculum;
- ability to use library resources to research topics across the curriculum; and
- ability to utilize and apply current computer technology across the curriculum.

Degree option in General Studies with five areas of concentration
The student may declare a CONCENTRATION for the Associate of General Studies from one of the five concentration groups listed below. To satisfy this requirement, 12 hours must be taken within the declared concentration.
GROUP I - Arts, Humanities, Speech, Theatre
GROUP II - Psychology, Sociology
GROUP III - History, Political Science, Geography
GROUP IV - Natural Sciences
GROUP V - Business, Accounting
Early Childhood Education
Elementary Education
Secondary Education
A non-prescriptive course of study is also available.
