- Survey of Microbiology. (4-3-3)
Survey of microorganisms that highlights the impact of microbes on human life and the world. Special emphasis is given to the medically important microorganisms. This course is designed for allied health and nursing majors and covers topics including history, classification, growth and control, ecology, and immunology. Laboratory activities reinforce lecture concepts.
- Principles of Microbiology. (4-3-3)
Prerequisite: CHEM 107 or CHEM 101 and one life science course (BLGY, ZLGY, MICR).
Medically important microbes, techniques used in their handling and control, infection control practices, and immunology. Lecture and laboratory studies include microbial morphology, physiology, genetics, and identification.
