Learning Outcomes
Recipients of the Certificate of General Studies will have demonstrated:
- the comprehension of information by reading college-level materials across the curriculum;
- the ability to communicate effectively in written English across the curriculum;
- the ability to comprehend and perform course-specific mathematical problems;
- the development of critical thinking skills across the curriculum;
- the ability to use library resources to research topics across the curriculum; the comprehension of basic concepts of art, music, film, theatre, literature, foreign language, history, humanities, and/or philosophy.

Students must meet prerequisites before taking any given course.
Students must meet the general education competencies for the academic certificate.
Fine Arts Electives: ART 101, 202, 206; MUSC 120; TLCM 240; THTR 101 or 131.
Humanities Electives: ENGL 201, 202, 255, 256; French; HIST 101, 102; Humanities; Philosophy; Religion; SPAN 101, 102, 201; or THTR 101.
Social/Behavioral Science Electives: Geography, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology.
Natural Science Electives: ALHT 115, Biology, Chemistry, Meteorology, Microbiology, Physical Science, Physics, SCI 101, or Zoology.
Mathematics Elective: A three-hour mathematics course higher than MATH 102 College Algebra (exclusive of MATH 129).
