Library Resources
  • Databases: to find critical analysis of the work, biographical information about the author, periodicals, literary index and more.
  • Online catalog: Reference books, Reserve books , books by the author, books about the authors’ works, DVDs or VHS.

Getting Started
  •    Begin your literary research in the Gale Group Database, Literature Resource Center.
  •    The Literature Resource Center contains biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of more than 120,000 authors from every age and literary discipline.

Where Do I find the Databases?
  • The Literature Resource Center is the first database that I would look at for my research information; it can be accessed from the BPCC Library webpage via any Internet-ready computer.
  • Note: Access is available on or off campus.

  • A. Enter the address: www.bpcc.edu/library/
  • B. Click on Search Our Databases link
  • C. Click on Off-Campus Access to the Indexes and Databases

Reference Books
  •    Reference books are another useful resource when doing literary research. You may search for them by using the library’s online catalog on the library’s website; www.bpcc.edu/library/
  •                                 -or-
  •    The easiest way is to use the Gale Literary index page to find the volume and page number of the Reference books that contain inforamtion about the work you are researching.

Reserve and Non-fiction books
  • Reserve and Non-fiction books are another  resource.
    • To search for them use the library’s online catalog.
        • Reserve items are located at the Circulation desk, just ask.
        • Non-fiction materials on literature  are located in the 800’s, these are on the first floor in the stacks.

Masterplots
  • In Masterplots you will find three types of articles;
  •                             Surveys works of literature in 1500-2500 words.


  • 2.                                       Extended character descriptions in 500-2000
  •                                           words
  •                                      Developed according to authors names.


    • BPCC Library has 10 sets of Masterplots.

  • Can’t find your author or work
